Testing HIV Positive

What a positive test result means:

• Antibodies to the virus are found in your blood

• You have been infected with HIV and can pass it on to other people through vaginal, anal and possible oral sex, or by sharing needles.

• If you are pregnant, you can pass the virus to your baby during pregnancy, birth and after birth through breast feeding.

• Whether symptoms are present or not, you are infected with the virus.
